If you have heard any of these stories from another source, or can shed any light on it, please contact me. |
Story 1: One of the Karmelek Girls was to have been Napoleon's Warsaw Mistress.  I heard this from my mother first, but my Uncle Sidney was not sure if the woman was a Karmelek or a Perlstadt.   I have not been able to learn anything about this and none of his biographies makes mention of anyone with our family surnames.
Story 2: My mother claimed that my grandmother (my father's mother) said that her family had "Yichus".   My mother never asked how (she did not like my grandmother).  I do not know whether this was the EDELBERG family or the family of grandma's mother Fayge BIRGARDOVSKY.  If you can shed any light on this, it would be most appreciated.   The EDELBERG family originated in Latvia and migrated to Kolonie L'vovo Kherson Guberniya in 1840.   BIRGARDOVSKY was Fayge's maiden name, she then married Zev Wolf MAGRUTSKY and was widowed.   Her second marriage was to Feivel EDELBERG.   Her sons by Zev Wolf came to the US under the name DAVIS.
Story 3: My maternal grandfather had a cousin Itsel Perelstadt, who went by his mother's maiden name of Schapira.  He apparently owned a hat factory in Detroit?   New York?   or Canada?   in the mid 1950's.   I am anxious to find any of his descendants.   Any suggestions are welcome.
Story 4: My paternal grandmother had a cousin Sonja Edelberg, who was an MD in St Petersburg, Russia, and married a Count there.   In the 1950's the late Joe Eisenstein met her, she was old and a grandmother then.   I would like to find her descendants.   I have no idea what her husband's name was.
Story 5: I found an entry in the Social Security Death Index for a Cypora Perelstadt.  I received her information, Perelstadt was her married surname.   I have since learned that her husband was an Icek Perlstadt, but I do not know his father's name.   Her daughter, Eva married Moszez HOFFMAN, but she too is listed in the Social Security death index.   Does anyone know of any living descendants?
Story 6: Stephen Ankier of the UK's family also comes from Warsaw, we share a relatively rare surname (Ankier), but do not yet know how we are related.   Does anyone have any additional information.
Story 7: Israel Edelberg of Akko, Israel formerly of Argentina, said that his father was Salomon Edelberg, and that the family came to Argentina from L'vovo.  He is not on either of the two Edelberg branches that I have traced from L'vovo, but I now know that there were three other branches.   I am 100% certain that we are cousins, but I do not know which of the other three branches, is his.   It also seems that every branch has a Solomon Edelberg. Any suggestions?
Also I have the following Names and Addresses from my paternal grandfather's address book circa 1954-1965 and I do not know why they were there.   Some may have been friends.   Current Business contacts were generally identified as such.   My grandparents were living in Florida at this time, and all of these were long distance, at a time when long distance was expensive and used infrequently.
